The American Singer who reached pinnacle of fame in late 1990’s, Jessica Ann Simpson, was born to Tina and Joe Truett Simpson (a psychologist and a minister) on July 10th 1980.

She was born in Abilene, Texas and she started her journey as a singer at a very young age by singing at her local Baptist church. It is surprising to know that this famous singer at the age of twelve, auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club which turned out to be unsuccessful. Her gospel music album with the Proclaim Records which she undertook while attending J.J. Pearce High School was a failure too. Facts state that the album was never released since the company went bankrupt. The major breakthrough in her life did not come till Tommy Mottola; executive of Columbia Records was impressed with one of Jessica’s independent releases and signed her for the Label.

Jessica Ann Simpson’s Career in Music

Ms Simpson’s first released album that led the way to her success expedition was “I Wanna Love You Forever”. The album topped at #3 in 2000 on Billboard Hot 100. Soon after a while her chief debut label album Sweet Kisses was released. To increase the fame of the album she toured with Boy band 98 degrees and Rickey Martin. Shortly afterwards Jessica started to date Nick Lachey of Boy band 98 degrees.

Her album Sweet Kisses went double platinum aided by her singles “I Think I’m in Love With You” and “Where are You” both of which were released in 2000. The former which was her first Up-tempo single became one of her most favorite radio hit. Though her debut album made sales of 2 million copies it did not beat the record of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Columbia Records reacted to this stating that she needed a change for the Second Album.

The Follow up album recorded by Ms Simpson with Columbia Records, consisted more up-tempo, radio friendly tracks. As a result, plunged into existence Irresistible was released in mid of 2001. It became one of Jessica’s biggest hits in her singing career. It peaked at #15 on Hot 100 and debuted at #6 in 2001 June on Billboard 200 Album Chart. The album has made sales of more than 825,000 copies so far.

Marriage and Entry into the Television World

It was during the summer of 2003 that Jessica made her entry into the Television World by starring in the reality show Newly Weds: Nick and Jessica with her then-new husband Nick Lachey. The show was aired in MTV. The release of her third album In This Skin (august 2003) coincided with the premiere of series Newlyweds.

The show soon became quite famous among the people and made her’s a house hold name even among those who did not follow MTV and pop culture. “I never knew that just doing the show would give me that pedestal to step on,” had said Jessica to Blender Magazine in the year 2004.

The Couple also starred together in “Nick and Jessica Variety Hour” in 2004 and the show was compared with The Sonny and Cher show. The Newlyweds show received a people’s choice award in the year 2005 after which it was wrapped.

Meanwhile her third album In This Skin debuted on The Billboard 200 album chart at #10 with the sales record of 64,000 in its very first week. The edited version of the album that was released in 2004 April, peaked at #2 and was triple platinum certified. The album featured songs like “With You” and “Take My Breath Away”, which is a cover of the Berlin Song.

Jessica and Movies

In the year 2005 she made an entry into Movies by starring in Daisy Duke which adapted from a television series The Dukes of Hazzard. Her Second movie Employee of the month released in 2006 and did not do that well at the box office. Jessica also starred in Blonde ambition and Private Valentine: Blonde and Dangerous.

Return to the Music World

Jessica returned to the recording studios in 2006 and switched to Epic records from Columbia. Her Fourth album was released by Epic Records and was named Public affair. It made sales of 101,000 copies in the first week and peaked at #5 on Billboard 200.

In the Year 2008 Jessica decided to country albums as suggested by her father. The Album names “Do You Know” released in September 2008 debuted at #1 On Billboard’s Top Country Albums in both Canada and U.S. She is said to feature in the 2009 tour of “Bob that Head Tour” that is said to go on till March 2009.
