Beyoncé Knowles was born on 4th of September, 10981, in Houston, Texas. This multi-talented R&B singer as well as song writer has proved her acumen as a record producer and as a talented actress. She joined the league of fame and recognition in the later 1990’s, as the lead vocalist of Destin’s Child and has more than fifty million records to her credit.

Early life of this music icon

Born to Mathew Knowles, a well to do record manager and Tina Beyincé, a hair stylist and designer of costumes, Beyoncé Knowles got baptized in honor of her mother’s name before marriage.

As a child, Beyoncé Knowles was a shy person. However all her inhibitions disappeared, once she went on stage to perform in a school talent show. She decided that singing was her passion and when she was eight, she auditioned for a position in a girl group named Girl’s Tyme, which performed rap music with dance.

Breakthrough for Destiny’s Child

The group decided to have a name changeover to Destiny’s Child, inspired by the Book of Isaiah. Beyoncé’s father resigned from his job and took over as the group’s manager. For four long years, they performed in a number of local events and were finally signed up in 1997 by Columbia Records. That same year marked another breakthrough for the group. They recorded ‘Killing Time’, a soundtrack of the blockbuster hit, Men in Black.

The next year, the group released its first debut album, ‘No No No’. This album won three awards. However, their next album, ‘The Writing’s on the Wall’, spelt real success for Beyoncé Knowles and her group. It was a multi-platinum selling album and some of the album’s songs like,’ Bills Bills Bills’, ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Jumpin Jumpin’, became the group’s signature songs, making a mark in everyone’s heart.

However following the album’s success, there was fallout among the group’s members. The strife was widely publicized and Roberson and Luckett left the group. After finally settling their differences, the new group of three recorded ‘Independent Women Part I’, the soundtrack of Charlie’s Angels. This single topped the charts for eleven weeks consecutively.

In May 2001, the group released its third album, ‘Survivor’, which depicted the bitter experiences of the strife within the group. The album debuted at the top position and till the present day has sold more than ten million copies, all over the world. The album’s song, ‘Bootylicious’, earned lots of praise and so did the title track, ‘Survivor’, for which the group won a Grammy. ‘8 Days of Christmas’, the group’s holiday album was the last record after which the group parted ways, for careers in solo singing.

Career as a solo artist

In 2003, Beyoncé Knowles released her first solo album, ‘Dangerously in Love’. The album topped all the charts and was announced to be four times platinum. Two of the album’s songs, ‘Crazy in Love’ and ‘Baby Boy’ became famous with music lovers worldwide. They dominated all the radio stations as well as the charts and there was no stopping Beyoncé Knowles to stardom. She won four Grammy awards as well as a Brit award in 2004.

In 2004, the group got back and released ‘Destiny Fulfilled’. ‘Soldier’, ‘Lose My Breath’ was among the ones to make it to the top forty. In 2006, Destiny’s Child got a star in the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame.
